The Story Behind a Special Boat

I have been participating in the Reelin’ for Research Tournament since 2017. I first became involved through The Sales Factory where I am involved in the design and production of the annual event’s marketing materials.

Reelin’ holds a special place in my heart as our family has traveled that rocky road of having a child with cancer.

Our son Aaron was initially diagnosed at the age of 7. The next 4 years were filled with the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. He succumbed to his cancer 2 weeks before his 11th birthday, but not before having profound impact on his family, friends and the strangers he met throughout his illness.

In the eyes of many, Aaron’s faith in God defied his circumstances. He trusted that his life was in God’s hands and that whatever the outcome he would serve Him until the end. He did so with grace, love and kindness.

After 27 years without him, Aaron is never far from our thoughts.

Last year we lost my sister Becky to cancer and dedicated the Boston Whaler we restored for Reelin’, with the theme “Thinkin’ Bout BECKY”.

This year we are humbled to honor Aaron’s legacy on the restored 1978 20′ Shamrock Keel Drive here this weekend.
